If you need to provide first aid in real life, you want to feel prepared and confident. This interesting and interactive one-day emergency first aid at work course is delivered by trainers to put you at your ease and to provide you with tools to use and the confidence to use them.

This Emergency First Aid at Work Course will ensure that your employees have the necessary support should they be taken ill or injured at work. It will cover all aspects of first aid in an emergency. The workplace can be a dangerous place with many actual and potential hazards. The course is delivered in such a way as gives individuals the confidence to put their newly acquired skills into practice.

The 1-Day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course content includes:

 

Aim to understand the role of the first-aider, including reference to:

  • the importance of preventing cross infection
  • the need for recording incidents and actions (accident book)
  • use of available equipment (First Aid Kits)
  • assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and
    effectively in an emergency (Emergency Plan)
  • administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
  • administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of an automated
    external defibrillator (AED)
  • administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including:
    Cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters

 

Additional units can include

  • Administering first aid to a casualty with:
    • head injuries
    • suspected spinal injuries
    • Hyperventilation (panic attacks)
    • eye injuries
    • anaphylactic shock
  • Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid
    including:

    • heart attack
    • stroke

On successful completion of this course, you will receive an Accredited Certificate that is valid for three years.

First Aid is not only a legal requirement for employers to provide for their workers, but it is also a valuable skill that employees can use in various situations beyond the workplace, potentially benefiting their families as well.
