This week’s Simply Put article looks at vulnerable persons. We’re thinking about who needs special consideration in health and safety policies.

When working on health and safety in the workplace, there are some people who we may need to pay special attention to, or to make different provisions for.

Some people who you may need to consider are:

• Young workers
• Inexperienced workers
• New employees
• Disabled workers
• Pregnant workers
• Recent mothers

Whilst it may transpire that special arrangements are not appropriate in every situation, it is important to take the time to think through arrangements to ensure that the policies and procedures in place are effective.
